European Union Nationals
First of all, you must register in the University website and then you can go ahead with pre-evaluation and enrolment.
Register into the web site
– Go to Unich.it
– At the top of the page click on MyPage
– In the menu STUDENTI click on Ud’a on Line
– In the top right corner click Menu then you can select language
– Again, in the top right Menu select Registration
– Then click on Web Registration
– And you can start the Registration to use the online procedures.
Note: when asked for Italian ID No. if you don’t have one, it will be generate automatically
When asked a Data Bank Account you can skip this question and you can send this information later if you need refunds.
Pre-Evaluation of your application
In order to be enrolled in the Course you need, first of all, to have approved your previous degree. To have your student career pre-evaluated:
Go to MyPage -> Studenti -> UdA online -> Top right Menu -> Login
Once logged in with the username and password from the previous procedures, go ahead with the Pre-Evaluation (Valutazione). You will recieve the results in few days.
Final Enrollment
To finalise your registration, perform the login and then follow the instructions:

Non-European Union Nationals
Part of the Pre-Enrollment procedure (pre-valutazione) of Non-EU nationals is organised in the Universitaly webpage
– First of all, visit the site
– Click on the image University
– And then click on International Students 2021
– And on Pre-enrol now
– From the login page you can create your account by clicking on “why and how to register”.
To utilise Universitaly use the Universitaly Tutorial
After the pre-enrollment you can start the VISA application.
Follow the Universitaly Tutorial to pre-enrol. Once you get the result of the verification of your previous Degree you can start the final enrollment following the step as for EU nationals. However, you will be contacted by UdA/IRSPS personnel for advising.
Requirements to enroll
To enroll in a Master (Laurea Magistrale) Degree in Italy you must have a first-cycle, three years degree from a University or a higher education Institution with the capabilities to provide equivalent University degrees.
Students with an Italian Degree
You can access the Master’s Degree in Geological Sciences and Technologies of Earth and Planets, Planetary Sciences (class LM-74) with a Laurea in the Class of Geological Sciences L-34 or in the Class of Sciences and Technologies for Environment and Nature L-32.
The ones with a Laurea in other technical-scientific subjects are required to meet the following curricular requirements: at least 6 total CFU (university credits) in mathematics and computer science (SSD – science disciplines – MAT/xx, without constraints on individual SSD and/or INF/01); at least 6 CFUs in chemical disciplines (SSD CHIM/xx, without individual SSD constraints); at least 50 CFU in GEO/xx and/or ICAR/xx and/or FIS/xx and/or BIO/xx and/or AGR/xx SSDs.
Students with a Foreign Degree
You can access the Master Course with a First-Cycle Three-Years Degree (Laurea or Bachelor equivalent) in Earth Sciences (or correlated subjects i.d. Geology, geophysics, marine science, natural sciences, etc.).
For those with degrees in other technical-scientific subjects, it is required to meet the following curricular requirements: at least 6 total ECTS (or equivalent) in mathematics, and computer science subjects; at least 6 ECTS in chemical disciplines, and at least 50 ECTS in Geology and/or Engineering and/or Physics and/or Biology and/or Agronomy subjects.
If you have problems in understanding if your degree is fitting the requirements, you are encouraged to informally contact info@irsps.it in order to get a preliminary assessment.
If the curriculum is judged satisfactory, the Board of Study Course will decide the admissibility issuing the required authorization. Otherwise, the assessment of the student’s preparation will take place by means of an interview which may lead to the admission authorisation, with a proposal for a personal study plan.
How to enroll
EU citizens or other equivalent nationals with Italian or EU university degrees
The methods of access and registration to Degree Programmes are the same for
– Italian citizens,
– European Union citizens and equivalent including Norway, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Swiss Confederation, Republic of San Marino,
– non-European Union citizen legally residing in Italy (equivalent students),
– students receiving scholarships in the framework of EU Programmes,
– students enrolled in courses of study organized jointly between two or more Italian and foreign institutions.
First of all, check if your degree is suitable for enrollment in the Master (Laurea Magistrale) in Science and Technology of Earth and Planet, Planetary Sciences (by checking the requirements). We encourage candidate students to informally contact info@irsps.it providing Diploma Supplement or other documentation about your previous study course for a preliminary assessment.
Once you receive an informal positive answer you can proceed with the online pre-evaluation that will be open in the due time around August.
After this pre-evaluation you can proceed with the full registration.

Non-EU citizens with non-EU degrees
First of all, you need to check whether your degree is suitable for enrollment in the Master (Laurea Magistrale) in Science and Technology of Earth and Planet, Planetary Sciences (see above). If necessary, we encourage candidates to preliminary contact info@irsps.it about providing Diploma Supplement or other documentation about your previous study courses.
After this informal assessment you can pre-register at the University and start the process to obtain the VISA.
Pre-registration is available at Universitaly.it. (see the Tutorial) Once the application has been completed, all applicants must apply (following instruction in Universitaly.it) to the Italian Diplomatic Office of their country of residence for a study/university visa.
Documentation to be submitted for enrollment
EU citizens or equivalent
– Certified copy of the degree obtained at a University (or post-secondary degree obtained at a non-university higher education institution) which allows university studies to be pursued at the Master level. EU degree owners do not need any further validation of their document if written in Italian, English, French and Spanish. An official translation is necessary if documentation is in other languages.
– Diploma Supplement (usually in English).
– An authenticated (by the Italian diplomatic mission) passport-size photo.
– A passport-size photo.
When available:
– A photocopy of the personal registration (residence for study purposes) to the Municipality where the residence was established
– A photocopy of the Italian “codice fiscale”
Documents in Italian, English, French and Castilian (Spanish) do not need official translation. All other languages need official translation in Italian or English.
Non-EU citizens
– Certified copy of the degree obtained at a University (or post-secondary degree obtained at a non-university higher education institution) which allows university studies to be pursued at the Master level with Apostille, or Dichiarazione di Valore, or certificate of validity issued by ENIC-NARIC centres or diplomatic missions in Italy
– Diploma Supplement or an equivalent official document attesting the passed examinations and, for each discipline, the detailed programmes envisaged for the achievement of the title. Also, this document must be authenticated with Apostille, or Dichiarazione di Valore, or certificate of validity issued by ENIC-NARIC centres or diplomatic missions in Italy
– An authenticated (by the Italian diplomatic mission) passport-size photo
– A passport-size photo
When available:
– A photocopy of the personal registration (residence for study purposes) to the Municipality where the residence was established
– A photocopy of the Italian “codice fiscale”
Documents in Italian, English, French and Spanish do not need official translation. All other languages need official translation.
If you studied in a country outside the European Union, contact the Italian Embassy in your country and the relevant local offices in time to prepare the documents.

If you are a non-EU citizen residing abroad, also remember to pre-enrol and apply for a visa for study purposes.
What is a Diploma Supplement based on the European Commission standard? Academic qualifications issued by universities and higher education institutions of countries belonging to the European Higher Education Area can be accompanied by a Diploma Supplement. The Diploma Supplement must be requested to the institution that issued the academic qualification.
If the Diploma Supplement (compliant with the standards of the European Commission) is signed and apostilled, in case of enrollment in a second cycle degree you do not have to deliver the transcript of records with the list of exams taken.
In the event of a Diploma Supplement or other comparable document provided by universities outside the European Higher Education Area, you can contact the info@irsps.it for an evaluation.

Translation, authenticity and value of foreign qualifications
Translation of qualifications and other documents
Qualifications, certificates and syllabi which are in Italian, English, French or Spanish do not require translation.
Documents in other languages must be supported by an official translation into Italian or English.
If you are not yet in Italy, the translation must be completed according to the rules set by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI).
If you are in Italy you can go to a district court (tribunale) and have your documents translated by a sworn translator, who cannot be the person who holds the qualification or title (traduzione giurata).
Methods of verification of the authenticity of foreign qualifications
The authenticity of foreign qualifications and certificates must be produced in one of the following ways:
Apostille: it is the easiest way to authenticate the documents. The Apostille is available for the Countries that adhere at the Hague Convention 1961 (see list of Countries).
Dichiarazione di Valore (Declaration of Value): it is an informative document that describes a qualification awarded to a specific person by an institution belonging to an education system other than that of Italy. It is used for the evaluation of the qualification by the competent Offices within the University, for the purpose of enrolling in degree programmes or for the recognition of foreign qualifications.

• legal status and type of issuing institution;
• access requirements for the programme resulting in the qualification;
• legal duration of the study programme and/or overall commitment required of the student in terms of credits or hours;
• value of the qualification in the system/country where it was issued, i.e. for academic and/or professional purposes.
If the qualification is issued by a school with a system that differs from that in the candidate’s place of residence (e.g., a Swiss student studying in a British system school in Switzerland) or place of study (e.g. a Swiss student studying in Kenya in a British system school) the Declaration of Value must be requested from the Italian Embassy in the country of the system to which the qualification-issuing school adheres (in both of the above cases: the Italian General Consulate in London).
Authenticity/Verification certificates issued by an ENIC-NARIC center. In the event of enrolment in a second cycle degree programme, the verification must also include the certificates containing the list of exams passed.
Online verification: if the qualification is verifiable through an online database made available by the institution that issued it, contact the info@irsps.it for an evaluation of your documents.
It is not necessary to submit confirmations regarding the authenticity of qualifications issued by an institution in Belgium, Denmark, France, Ireland, Latvia, Estonia (Brussels Convention 1987), Germany (Rome Convention 1969), Austria (Vienna Convention 1975).
If the qualification is issued by a school with a system that differs from that in the candidate’s place of residence (e.g., a Swiss student studying in a British system school in Switzerland) or place of study (e.g. a Swiss student studying in Kenya in a British system school) the Declaration of Value must be requested from the Italian Embassy in the country of the system to which the qualification-issuing school adheres (in both of the above cases: the Italian General Consulate in London).
Non-EU citizens before leaving home: pre-enrolment and entry visa
To enter Italy, non-EU students wishing to enrol in degree programmes must first pre-enrol and apply for an entry visa for study purposes.
• pre-enrol online via the Universitaly portal. Pre-enrolments for the Academic Year 2021-22 are open. In the application, you must indicate the Università d’Annunzio and choose the degree programme you want to enrol in. You will also need to specify the Embassy / Consulate where you will apply for an entry visa to Italy. The pre-enrolment application will be verified by the University and forwarded to the Embassy / Consulate you have specified;
• contact the Embassy / Consulate well in advance to find out the requirements for obtaining an entry visa and make an appointment if necessary.
Be aware that pre-enrolment alone does not grant admission to degree programmes. In order to matriculate you also need to take and pass the verifications of the entry requirements and the admission procedures set for the degree programme of your interest.

Important! The Università d’Annunzio does not issue admission letters for obtaining a visa.
You do not need to demonstrate your proficiency in Italian language because the teaching language is English.
The Università d’Annunzio offers Italian language courses to international students.
You must take the following documents to the Italian Embassy (check with the local diplomatic mission about this issue):
• the summary of the pre-enrolment application submitted through Universitaly and validated by the Università d’Annunzio;
• any language competence certificates if applicable;
• the documents required for the visa application, including a health insurance policy where applicable;
• the required documents if you hold a foreign qualification.
You must obtain the following documents from the Italian Embassy:
• an entry visa to Italy for study purposes (“studio- immatricolazione università”);
• a stamped health insurance policy, where applicable;
• find out how to enrol in a Second cycle degree programme and the required documents if you hold a foreign qualification
After the acceptance of your pre-enrollment you have to apply for a VISA to stay in Italy. Usually, the Embassies issue a temporary VISA to enter Italy and then to proceed in i) finalizing the enrollment in your study course, ii) obtain a Codice Fiscale (a unique identification number) and iii) a stay permit with residency.
University personnel will help you in the bureaucratic processes in Italy.
Usually, you have to apply for a residence permit within 8 days from your arrival.
Important: an entry visa for tourism cannot be used to enrol at the university or to obtain a residence permit for study purposes.
